Meet Our Rooted Students Director
Mrs. Clarissa Parmer

Clarissa is Pastor Chip’s bride of 23 years. She is thankful to God to have been allowed to serve over the years in children's ministry, for 4 years, and youth ministry for over 11 years.

Clarissa is AWANA Director Certified and has attended numerous leadership conferences hosted by the BGCT, SBC, and Right Now Media to ensure she is continuing to develop and grow in the ministry leadership and effectiveness.

Clarissa takes her calling very seriously as knowing that those that teach others will be held to a higher standard according to God’s word.

In her "spare time," she am a public school educator enjoying subjects in history,  the social sciences, coaching girls' sports,  and she loves her animals (especially buffaloes). She loves the great outdoors, her family and most importantly God!

Clarissa says, “God has called our beautiful family of 5 near and far, up and down, and through it all, we count it all a blessing...for God is GOOD...All the time!”

Meet Our Rooted Children's Director
Ms. Janet Evans

Janet grew up in Marlin and loves her community. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1969, and joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ where she served for 46 years.

Her first assignment was at the headquarters in San Bernardino, CA where she served for 2 years. She then transferred into the campus ministry and served on various campuses in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New York, and New Jersey.

In 1984 she moved to NYC in order to help launch the campus ministry there. Shortly thereafter she transferred to the inner city ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, where she ended up coordinating the short-term inner city mission projects nationally.

In 2015, upon retiring from Campus Crusade, she moved back to the aera and married the love of my life, Carl Evans, from Reagan, TX. The Lord took Carl home in 2018. So now in addition to directing the Rooted Kids ministry at First Baptist, she helps facilitate the FBC Marlin GriefShare ministry.
